ENGLISH FOR ACADEMIC PURPOSES (EAP) PROGRAM

For students seeking to study at a college or university outside of their home country, including those who wish to apply for conditional admission to any of the schools in the ELS University Conditional Admission Network.

In addition to focusing on listening, speaking, reading, writing, pronunciation and grammar skills, the ELS English for Academic Purposes curriculum also develops skills in:

• Critical Thinking
• Presentations
• Note Taking
• Academic Research
• and more…

Morning classes consist of:

• Structure and Speaking Practice or Language Studies

• Vocabulary Enrichment (Levels 101 – 109) or Skills Enhancement Classes (Masters Only)

• One lesson in our Language Technology Center (LTC)

Afternoon classes are dedicated to reading and writing.
Contact America! provides regular opportunities to meet with native English-speakers and listen to guest lecturers.

GENERAL ENGLISH

For anyone seeking to improve the English skills they need to communicate accurately and effectively.

The program includes intensive development of skills in:
• Listening
• Pronunciation
• Grammar
• Speaking
• Vocabulary

Morning classes consist of:

• Structure and Speaking Practice or Language Studies
• Vocabulary Enrichment
• A Skills Enhancement Class in the morning in place of Vocabulary Enrichment (Masters levels)
• One lesson in our Language Technology Center

Afternoons at all levels are dedicated to Skills Enhancement Classes such as American Idioms, American Film, Current Events and American Culture.*

Contact America! provides regular opportunities to meet with native English-speakers and listen to guest lecturers. Conversation is practiced using practical, real-world English.

SEMI-INTENSIVE ENGLISH

For those who want to learn English while still having time to explore local cities and attractions and put their improving English into practice outside the classroom.

This program includes development of the important language skills that are needed to communicate accurately and effectively:

• Vocabulary

Classes are held only in the mornings and build a foundation for communication competency. They include:

• Structure and Speaking Practice or Language Studies
• Vocabulary Enrichment
• One lesson in our Language Technology Center

Conversation is practiced using practical, real-world English.

AMERICAN EXPLORER

For those who are planning a short vacation and would like to include some classes to improve their English speaking skills and enrich their vocabulary.

Mornings are dedicated to classes, and afternoons are free, allowing for local exploration and practicing English skills.

This program includes development of the important language skills that are needed to communicate accurately and effectively:
