Your first day at ELS Universal English College will begin with our excellent orientation program to welcome you to our school.
Please arrive to register at 8.30am. Bring your passport and a pen. Testing begins at 9am for both morning and evening students.
The program for the day is as follows:
Check in at the Reception area on Level 1. We will issue your student card and handbook and you will complete personal details documents.
Placement test & Total Support interview
You will be given a test to assess your English level. As part of our Total Support, this will include a personal interview to learn about your study needs.
Morning tea and “Meet the Staff”
(Only held on major start dates).
You are invited to meet the staff and enjoy morning tea.
Getting to know the College
We will explain the college rules and the roles of staff members.
Tour of the College and surrounding area
You will tour the college facilities and after this you will be taken on a tour of Wintergarden (food court), Australia Square (food court and emergency meeting point), and then NAB Bank, and Hunter Connection (chemist and food court) and the OSHC office.
This session will give an overview of the course that you have enrolled in.
Student services orientation
We will provide detailed information on work rights, visa requirements and social club activities.
Students in our accommodation program will receive general information from our friendly homestay team and can ask any questions or raise any issues. As part of Total Support, students will meet with the homestay team 2 weeks after arrival and then on a monthly basis to ensure that they are enjoying their experience.
